( Fall ) Photography tips

It's almost September!

Wow, time really does go by fast. It's Christmas in 115 days... I feel like it was just yesterday when we were decorating the tree.
Before winter, it is obviously always fall, my favourite season. Everything is so colourful and cosy. Leaves turn into red, orange and yellow. Anyone with a passion for photography knows what this means... a perfect opportunity to photograph!

The pictures in this post will be from 2016 because I haven't gotten an opportunity to do more fall photography yet.

So, what should you photograph?
There's a huge amount of opportunities, and to make it all better to read, I'm writing a little list of all my tips.

  • Go outside! Look out the window. Can you see beautiful trees with reddish leaves? Maybe some leaves on the ground? Grab your camera and get to work. To take pictures like this  or the one on top of this, you need to have correct camera settings ( DSLR). I'm leaving some links to help you out at the end of this post.
  • Capture colour combinations!
  • You can take photos inside too. Try fairy lights with some candles and a blanket, different kinds of set ups like this look always pretty! link to capturing fairy light photos at the end.
  •   Do NOT wait for a whole week. If the weather looks great now, tomorrow it might already be way worse. The colours of the trees could change any day.
  • When you're taking portraits, make sure your client ( aka probably your friend or yourself) is wearing appropriate clothes. Wearing a beach dress is not the best option for a fall photo shoot. Here are some ideas for outfits ;

Editing pictures

Editing your pictures may be hard, especially when you have a computer you can't get good editing apps in. ( Chromebook is one of those, but if you have one, try Polarr ). I often see that some people react very negatively to editing pictures with a phone app, but there's some that are actually great. Try VSCO ( https://vsco.co/)
Facetune (https://www.facetuneapp.com/)

Original
Edited with VSCO

VSCO is a simple editing app that works well for me.
  • + You can choose from many natural looking filters
  •   +You can share the photos with other users on the app
  • +Easy to learn
  • -You have to pay for some things, +free version still works great

after

Facetune: A little bit more complicated, but has many different ways to edit.

  • +You can touch up your face
  • +You're able to make your skin, background or whatever you want a different colour and you're able to keep it natural.
  • +Reshaping
  •  +Defocus is good
  • - Have to get a premium for many things.

This post is not sponsored! Thank you for reading ( if you read all this to the end, I appreciate you)

Also, I'm sorry if this did not give you enough information. I tried my best to explain what I do.
